Raymond Ruys (1886-1956) was an Antwerp goldsmith.
At the 1930 World Exhibition in Antwerp, Raymond Ruys won a Grand Prix with
his entry, an ensemble of 48 silver unique pieces with a hammered surface,
inspired by non-European cultures, among other things. These objects, to
which this vase can also be counted, not only excelled in originality, but
also in craftsmanship. The vase is marked on the bottom with the content
mark 950 in a rectangle and the retailer's mark R.RUYS also in a rectangle.
The signature R.RUYS is on the neck of the vase. The vase has been in the
possession of the Silver Museum Sterckshof since 2005 (inv. no. S2005/122).
