A 19thC. Wrought iron safe by Charf.
A late 19th Century French Wrought Iron Safe by Magaud De Charf.
This important, Gothic hobnail wrought iron safe was manufactured by Magaud de Charf in Marseilles, France (1850-1890) and features nailhead design on all four sides. It has an all-original, working mechanism. The front door is further decorated with two large hinges on the sides.
The inside opens to reveal an amazing lock mechanism and a large storage compartment. To open the safe, you first need to find and locate the nail which will activate and open the key latch on the right. Then, by inserting the smaller of the three keys half-way, it will open both left key latches at once. Next, place the two large keys in each key hole one at a time.
In perfect working order. 3 keys!
Note: If you want, we can send you a video in a separate email about the working method and order of the 3 locks.
