Franz Iffland:
Franz Iffland was a German artist best known for his Art Nouveau bronze
sculptures. He frequently depicted women, children, and animals within
historic or sporting themes. Born in 1862 in Berlin, Germany, Iffland
studied at the Berliner Bildhauerschule, absorbing the popular Jugendstil
aesthetic of turn-of-the-century Germany. Producing paintings in tandem with
his sculptural work, Iffland was an expert at administering various patinas
to his bronzes. The artist died in 1935 in Berlin, Germany. He presented his
work in bronze at the Great Art Exhibition held in Berlin in 1892.
